The videos cost nothing

Why the program is free

We wanted the program in front of as many students as possible.

The person behind Writing Key is a tutor and educator who spent his career watching students of every age stare at blank pages. As a result, he developed a method that finally, simply, worked.

When it came time to share it, there was really only one question: how can I get this in front of as many students as possible? And the honest answer was that it had to be free.

So that's what he did. Every video lesson is free to watch, for everyone, forever. No subscriptions, no paywalls, no email wall — just the program, out in the world, doing what it was made to do.

The companion workbooks are how families and teachers can choose to take it further. They offer optional practice that makes the method stick. They cost money because making them well costs money, but they'll never be the gate. The video lessons will always be free.

What parents say

A program that delivers results

Nearly every student we've worked with sees significant, lasting improvement in how easily they write.

My son used to stare at blank pages for hours. The free videos gave him a structure he could follow, and the companion workbook made it stick. Now he actually enjoys writing assignments.

Lisa R.

Mother of a 7th grader

The lessons are so short and visual that my daughter never loses focus, and the workbook practice turns what she watches into habits. Her teacher noticed the change in six weeks.

Thomas G.

Father of a 4th grader

Writing Key's method is the clearest I've seen for teaching the five-paragraph essay. The free videos get families started, and the workbook completes the learning.

Catherine W.

11th Grade English Teacher

My third grader would shut down the second a writing assignment was mentioned. After a week of the videos she sat down and wrote a full paragraph without any tears. I nearly cried myself.

Amanda P.

Mother of a 3rd grader

We homeschool four kids, and Writing Key is the first writing program all of them respond to. The short videos hold their attention and the workbook practice is exactly what they need.

David & Maria S.

Homeschooling parents of four

My son's teacher actually asked what changed. His ideas were finally organized — you can see the BOWE method working in every paragraph he writes now.

Natalie K.

Mother of a 6th grader

As a literacy tutor, I recommend Writing Key to every family I work with. It breaks writing down the way I wish every curriculum did.

Jennifer H.

Reading & writing tutor

My daughter dreaded writing so much it was affecting her grades in other subjects. The free lessons gave her confidence; the workbook gave her practice. Two months later she's a different student.

Mark J.

Father of a 5th grader

I love that there's no subscription and no catch. We went through the lessons as a family over a weekend and my kids were genuinely excited to start the workbook.

Rachel T.

Mother of twin 4th graders

The step-by-step approach is genius. It never assumes too much, so my eighth grader — who HATES writing — can actually follow along and succeed.

Steven M.

Father of an 8th grader

We'd tried three other writing curriculums before this. Writing Key is the only one that stuck because it's small enough to actually do — every single day.

Lauren B.

Mother of a 5th grader

My son went from refusing to write a single sentence to typing out full paragraphs on his own. The visual aids are the secret — he finally sees how a paragraph is built.

Brian D.

Father of a 4th grader

I'm a former teacher, so I'm picky. Writing Key's method is genuinely the clearest breakdown of the five-paragraph essay I have ever seen — and it's free.

Gloria V.

Mother & former teacher

My daughter uses the lessons to complete her school writing, then practices with the workbook on weekends. Her confidence has grown more than her grades — and her grades grew a lot.

Ethan R.

Father of a 6th grader

The best part is how rewatchable the videos are. When my son forgets a step, we just replay the two-minute lesson. No frustration, no fighting.

Carla N.

Mother of a 3rd grader
